"But I try to let them know this is a safe haven for them," he asserts. "So seeing something positive like Jeffery or something like it will help, I believe, the Black and brown part of the LGBTQ be more accepting of themselves and dream bigger and better."

Junior and his staff are dedicated to ensuring that the bar remains a vibrant hub for Black LGBTQ+ life in Chicago. The smiles on patrons' faces are a testament to their success. "People are happy," Junior says. "When, we were first allowed to open back up, it was a bit sketchy...

But things are picking back up."
